Council Results Are In

Red Deer voters have spoken - and they’ve chosen a balance of experience and new perspectives for their next City Council.

In the mayoral race, Cindy Jefferies was elected with 6,237 votes, earning 40% of the total. Gareth Scott finished second with 3,483 votes, or 23%.

For City Council, voters selected Tristin Brisbois with 6,703 votes, Cassandra Curtis with 6,422, Chad Krahn with 6,249, Kraymer Barnstable with 6,235, Dianne Wyntjes with 6,069, Jaelene Tweedle with 5,635, Adam Goodwin with 5,290, and Bruce Buruma with 5,241.

Four incumbents - Krahn, Barnstable, Wyntjes, and Buruma - will return to Council, joined by four newcomers - Brisbois, Curtis, Tweedle, and Goodwin - creating a mix of continuity and change.

Voters appear to have sent a message that they want fresh ideas while maintaining experienced leadership to guide the city through the challenges ahead.

We’ll be watching closely to see how Mayor Jefferies and the new Council tackle the City's priorities.
