There will be a City Council Agenda Review Committee Meeting today. No time or agenda is available for this meeting yet.
- The Red Deer & District Family & Community Support Services Board will meet on Tuesday, and the Economic Development Ad Hoc Committee will meet on Wednesday. No times or agendas are available for these meetings yet either.
- Outdoor rinks and Bower Ponds are now closed for the season due to warm temperatures and unsafe ice conditions. The City is also warning of hazardous conditions on local ponds, rivers, and creeks. The Ice Oval at Setters Place is temporarily closed and will be reassessed on March 3rd. Residents are advised to exercise caution around natural ice surfaces due to potential soft spots.

The Alberta provincial budget has earmarked significant funding for Red Deer infrastructure projects. Red Deer Regional Hospital will receive $557 million over three years for expansion, including $22 million for an interim cardiac catheterization lab. The Highway 11 twinning project will also receive $208 million over three years, with $50 million allocated this year. Additionally, Red Deer Regional Airport's expansion will be supported with $4 million this year. The Red Deer Justice Centre is set to receive $2 million this year as part of its $207 million construction cost.

Council has approved a $450,000 renovation to bring public washrooms back to Sorenson Station by March 2026. Originally closed due to vandalism, the washrooms will be upgraded with improved plumbing, accessibility, and security features. The renovation project will include an on-site attendant to ensure cleanliness and safety. Despite concerns over costs, some Council members emphasized the health and practical necessity of the facility.
- Council has outlined key priorities for 2025, focusing on finances, economic development, community safety, and communication. Council aims to improve financial accountability, support business growth, and address homelessness and public safety issues. Efforts will also be made to enhance communication between officials, Administration, and the community. To track progress, the City Manager will implement a system to measure the achievement of objectives and ensure collaboration. Additionally, Council is reviewing its grant policy to better inform community organizations and improve funding processes.
