- Tuesday is New Year’s Eve! There are several family-friendly events happening in the city, including a party at the library and another at the Sports Hall of Fame. More information is available at the Red Deer Community Events website.

Cpl. Sam Holm, a seasoned RCMP officer with 17 years of experience, has been appointed the new supervisor of Red Deer's Downtown Patrol Unit. Holm, who recently introduced himself to City Council, expressed his enthusiasm for working in the downtown area, emphasizing his personal connection to the community. He will oversee a team of five RCMP officers and two Community Peace Officers, who have enhanced duties and training. The Downtown Patrol Unit, formed in 2018, aims to maintain safety and vitality in the downtown area by building relationships with businesses and addressing concerns proactively. Holm, who has lived in Red Deer for two years, has received positive feedback from local businesses and is looking forward to his new role.

The Red Deer River Naturalists (RDRN) received a $500,000 donation to their endowment fund, which supports environmental stewardship programs. The endowment, established in 2021, provides a stable financial reserve for RDRN’s ongoing projects, including conservation education and habitat stewardship.
- Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) experienced a quiet holiday season with no major fire calls on Christmas or Boxing Day. A total of 37 workers were on duty during Christmas Day, with an additional 31 working overnight to respond to any emergencies. The staff operates on a platoon rotation, to try and ensure fair distribution of holiday shifts.
