This Week In Red Deer:

• Summer break continues for Council with no meetings scheduled all week. Must be nice!
  
  
• Central Alberta Pride Week kicks off on August 8th, with Pride By The Park being held at Baymont by Wyndham Red Deer from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm. A Pride Week proclamation will also be held at City Hall.
  
  
• If you didn't get a chance to celebrate Canada Day this year, you will have a second opportunity because it's Canada Day in Rimbey on August 21st! The town is currently looking for volunteers to assist with the celebrations which are set to take place at PaskaPoo Park.

Last Week In Red Deer:

• Gasoline Alley is beginning to look like a thriving business community after dozens of new businesses have recently opened along Leva Avenue. Apparently, it pays to be just outside the reach of Red Deer Council. Maybe if Red Deer City had more business-friendly policies like Red Deer County, the City could have a thriving business environment too!
  
  
• After several months of a hot housing market in Red Deer, things have slowed down for the month of July. There were 153 sales in July, down around 5% for the year, but in line with long-term averages.
  
  
• The federal government has announced Red Deer will receive $11 million in infrastructure funding for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. This will be a one-time transfer through the Canada Community Building Fund.
