Yes, inflation is hitting hard! But average inflation rates are 2-3%. Life is more costly. Wages are not going up…unless you work for the government and unions. Interesting. There are other options! Cutting back on wants is the first place to start. The wasted expenses, poor planning, expensive outings…reducing unnecessary infrastructure, excessive reserves when there isn’t excessive money. I understand everyone wants more money but maybe it can’t be as much right now. How about considering a 2% increase as we just had a 10% in 2025??

City Council is driving companies out of Red Deer by further increases in property taxes. The mayor should visit every department and cut their budgets up to 20%. With my experience with the city I have seen obvious waste taking place. Ever department head should be replaced if they can’t accomplish what they have done in the past with 20% less funding.

You said one of the reason for increase in taxes was for staff wages. Like the increase you gave. yourselves during covid when no one was working and not making money! I hope you are kidding on that one as that should not happen.

    Police and Fire YES

It really does seem that City Hall is not listening to what the people of Red Deer want.

I am learning…call me a slower learner if you wish, but it seems what most of you said during election time is not what is going on now. I call it talking out of both sides of your mouth to get you elected then you don’t follow thru.

Cut all the excess. Reduce city staff. Cut city pensions and benefits. Tured of payimg for these people spending our money on themselves.
